Simple way to think of it is supply vs demand.
When people short, they increase the supply. Price drops if supply overwhelms demand.
Extension of the above idea:
The ability to naked short allows crooks to create supply out of thin air. Unlimited supply can destroy any amount of demand. Not that there is necessarily naked short selling going on with CYDY.
