There seems to be the general suspicion on the board that the FDA are the running-mongrel-dog lackeys of big companies who DO NOT want 1) an effective treatment from a small pharma or even 2) an effective treatment at all.
I think this is wrong-headed. I could sorta see it if we're talking about HIV, since yes, big pharma makes a lotta money on HIV treatment, and not many folks are dying of HIV now. But to believe that the FDA, a group under heavy pressure to stop this pandemic, does not really want to stop this pandemic -- that makes no sense. They're slow footed because they're a bureaucracy, and not used to operating in a crisis -- in fact, all their street cred was built on being SLOW AND SURE. That's who they are.
But does a person like Janet Woodcock want to see a therapeutic have success? I'm almost sure she does.
