Here is why I am not quite crediting the vaccine with this drop in cases from 3 weeks ago just yet: 3 weeks ago, we were experiencing the surge from Christmas and New Years get-togethers. That surge is over and we are dropping back to pre-surge numbers.
To the best of my knowledge, about 2% of the population has been vaccinated. I just don't think that 2% correlates to a 50% drop in cases. Will there be another surge after the Superbowl? We shall see...most of the people who got vaccinated are quite elderly (or are first responders) and it is the younger people who might be tempted to attend potential Superbowl super-spreader events.
Thoughts?
