You are correct. I was reading PaO2/FiO2 as a subset of organ failure.
With a PaO2/FiO2 > 150 mmHg it didn't make sense to include critical at all. But I have it figured out. The PaO2/FiO2 > 150 mmHG isn't at the start of intubation. So yes indeed, very critical patients will be enrolled as long as they can bring it down to that level on intubation.
