You're right, and there's different test needed for the situation.
Antigen tests for active virus. These tests necessary about twice a week, even if you had the vaccine because although you may be immune, we don't know if you can still transmit the virus to others if it gets into your mouth, nose and throat.
Antibody tests for how well your vaccine defense is working. We need to know when our antibodies kick in after the vaccination.
Then we need periodic tests to ensure they are still working and when to get a vaccine booster. Luckily these types of tests will be inexpensive and soon will be a commodity.
