CCR5 is a g-coupled protein receptor.
Its a protein. Just one contiguous protein.
Its "G" cuz it loops through the cell membrane seven times.
Its expressed by one and only one gene, but each person has two copies of the gene, one from mom and one from dad.
It can exist on the cell membrane in clumps of proteins not only with other CCR5 molecules but other non-CCR5 molecules like CXCR4.
