Unfortunately, you can model in both directions:
1) If you think you know the death rate in the control group based on external evidence, then any extra death is allocated to the treatment group, so you want to hear a lower total death rate.
2) If you think you know the proportional death reduction due to leronlimab, you want more events for significance, so you want to hear a higher death rate.
