It's a clever answer, but it's not a direct yes. Gerald's answer here demonstrates that we have tests and treatments that will survive mutations that might degrade other testing. But what the original question is is about whether our test will differentiate between the new strain and the old. And it won't, as far as I understand it. Willing to hear an argument otherwise though.
