Yes, but really they didn't take hold until the 2000s. I know this because of following the competition for dominance in terms of the stock market. Which co would prevail. The EMR itself, at one site, is one thing, but an EMR that can be connected all over across sites and potentially across provider orgs is something different. What I greatly appreciate about the UNVC record, at least as I understand it, is its *groundbreaking* feature that the *patient* controls the record, not the providers. The *patient* controls who sees what. That's just brilliant and empowering. I hope it beats everything else into the ground.
