Well, if the additional shares are still "out there" and not retired, investors would presumably still use them in their own calculations. Just because they would rest on GNBT's books doesn't mean Joe couldn't/wouldn't sell them. So how ever many shares are IPOd + our shares + shares on GNBT's books should all still count in your calcs, IMO.
