I agree we as a country are the pinnacle of our time. Another way to view is us as an empire of our time. The Romans have a long history of controlling civilization during their run of an empire. The difference is they had total control of all civilization.
Something like a pandemic could unseat us as a super power and end our short run as a partial empirical dominating force to be reckoned with. But as you said... we are the world hub in many many ways.
How we deal with this pandemic and the science behind it to help the world is what will show in the history books. Will we as an empire help save all people of the world and spread our science and wealth to save lives even in the poor countries? Is that our duty as the super power we see ourselves as? The last administration was more isolationist than the one coming in on January 20th. Will we see a big change in how we deal with Covid? I believe it will be like someone just turned on the light switch and things will be more aggressively handled to achieve a better response towards Covid. Defense act used and not just threatened. This is the most serious event we have ever experienced as country and a world leader.
During the Spanish Flu we were just one of many fighting nations with no world leading country. Now things are much different and as a leading nation. The worlds expectations of us are a very serious evaluation going forward for all other countries. We will be judged whether we like it or not. I am not a big believer in foreign aid when we have our own internal problems. I have always wanted to take care of our own people first. This pandemic is way different and time will tell what kind of great nation we all believe ourselves to be. A great nation in my opinion will help the world as much as we can finance and require all of western civilization to do their share also. The world is looking at us for that help.
I hope to travel again someday and proudly have the American flag on my luggage. It hasn’t been displayed on my luggage for years. The world isn’t as grateful of Americans as they were post world war 2. That was a slow fade for generations. A new perception of our country as a world leader would be a great thing. I am a proud American. I just haven’t been confident to fly the colors internationally when traveling. We still have hope of doing that again. We can still win this pandemic war I believe. I feel as an investor in Leronlimab. I am doing my small part. It’s what most of us must feel. It warms my heart when I think about it.
