I want to back this up from Sean
I hear comments about Bill Gates all the time and 100% of the time they are conspiratorial.
The thing is, in my former pre-Covid life as an audio visual professional, I worked on Microsoft shows and Bill/Mel Gates Foundation shows. These are theatrical style presentations to a subsets of the public, be they employees, partners, vendors, or customers, or whatever. I worked on these shows for 14 years around North America.
The philanthropic and public service mentality of that entire corporation, gives me, a hesitant Capitalist, great hope in the things large organizations can do, if they choose to, for the betterment of mankind.
I don’t drink the kool-aid either. A corporate strategy is certainly behind some of the philanthropic endeavors. But Bill doesn’t have to do these things. Or rather he does have to do these things, but for humanity, not personal gain.
Stamping out malaria worldwide for instance is one initiative that comes to mind. Using AI to focus sunlight from mirrors to create carbon neutral concrete (Heliogenics - not yet public) is another.
True story...backstage lots of “VIPs” come in with huge entourage. “Look how important I am.”
On one show, Bill walked in alone with a large sack of McDonalds’s cheeseburgers because he likes them. That guy passed out a dozen or so to the A/V crew, sat down on a road case, and ate his two. (A few years before my time).
I could go on about where conspiracy comes from a defense mechanism we all have deep within our brain, and this defense mechanism sometimes Trumps reason, but certainly you already have a feeling for it.
