I read that story posted by Doc (Post# 24780). Katalin Karikó proves my point. If it wasn’t for her, perhaps the mRNA technology would just be another roadside grave along the technological highway.
The Wright Brothers doggedly pursued the airplane and that technology of using a piston driven power plant coupled with a propeller to propel the plane remained unchanged for decades until the jet engine. Today, prop driven, jet driven and even helicopters co-exist, each with their advantages and disadvantages. I can see a future where mRNA and Ii-Key peptide technology co-exist, each with their own specialty. I just hope that Joe has the fortitude and stamina that Katalin had to see this thing thru to a successful completion.
