Borrowing shares can be fairly cheap if you get them on low demand. Pile up a bunch, let a few other shorts know what's coming up. Write a hit piece and ramp up the FUD on the message boards to panic the noobs. Dump shares then cover. Standard operating procedure and not a huge outlay.
