Okay board, Doctor Dalton shared something very dear to him this weekend --- the death of his eldest son caused by opioids. This was not something he had to share, and he gains nothing but grief for doing so. However, Doc's share of this very personal tragedy does provide some insight into his mind and his reasons for this journey. The loss of a son (or any family member for that matter) affects us in ways difficult to comprehend and explain. For some, it is the loss of the future. For others, it means the loss of meaning for one's life. Still others it is the loss of hope.
Regardless of our personal motivations, the effect is often monumental, and can direct our actions from that point onward. I suspect this is what is driving Dalton now.
I wonder why Dalton chose this particular moment to share this tragedy (his son did die a while ago). Is this a clue regarding his timing? Will he reveal his plans soon? All good questions that we will just have to wait and see.
We just witnessed the human side of Dalton, and regardless of what might be revealed in the days ahead, we just might feel a closer connection to the man and his motivations. We did invest in UNVC with the thought of some degree of profit. Yet, in the years many have lingered on this journey, some have learned and grown along the way.
My hope is that everyone has a very Merry Christmas, and a bright and prosperous New Year. Should we be enriched along the way, then consider those we met along this journey. One may find the reward is even greater than the money.
