I hope NP didn't confuse the 60 patient interim plan with 60%! (I realize it doesn't make a whole lot of difference in a 120 patient trial.)
But, I just couldn't help bringing up what I consider one of the two great mis-directions during my time with CYDY.
One was telling us for a LONG time that we would do an interim analysis on CD12 with 50 patients, when it was 50% the entire time (195 patients). That was really weird and I will never understand why none of his staff told him to correct that error.
The other is my particular favorite. Somewhere around January 25 of this year, he said definitively that the HIV BLA would be submitted by month end (e.g. 6 days). It was actually submitted around the end of March (and incomplete at that). (I didn't recheck these exact dates). I really haven't trusted him since then. (Not that he cares, or that you should care about my trust level).
This post is a whole lot of chat about nothing really important today. Guess I just needed to get these two "NP classics" off my chest!
NP just can't resist setting up a variety of "interims" or "due dates" to keep stringing us along while the real work gets done. Strangely, his strategy just might work!
