I agree, The vaccine may not have a noticeable impact for a long time. Most local and state leaders that are enforcing lockdowns are looking at real world numbers. the number of hospital beds with covid patients, infection rate, positivity rate etc.. These may not lower for some time and likely will increase while the vaccination is happening. they are not going to lift these restrictions until the numbers say it is ok. It will be interesting to see how the curve changes with widespread vaccination but it is not going to be an obvious impact right away at all. If you get covid or have covid, you need a treatment, not a vaccine.
