The BARDA grants were abruptly canceled last spring a couple of days before the projected announcement of those awards. Instead of focusing on treatments for people who were already infected, and the vast numbers of people who were projected to get infected (by using science), the government chose to go with vaccine research only. Let 'em die now, eventually in a year or two we'll be able to vaccinate the survivors. Great plan, huh?

Hopefully money will be put back toward treatments now. Much too late for the at least tens of thousands who COULD have been saved in the U.S. alone, not to mention the rest of the world.
