Insufficient interferon beta has been linked to severe Covid. It stimulates immune response, with suggestions that Covid-19 is able to evade immune system/suppress its release and now that pre-existing autoantibodies against interferon beta allow/promote severe Covid.

Synairgen has suggested inhaled interferon beta as a Covid treatment, though it would be hard to know who needs until the window of opportunity had passed.

Insufficient interferon 1 (both alpha and beta), appear to develop in elderly and chronically ill, which in conjunction with otherwise healthy patients with anti-interferon antibodies, may compose the vast majority of severe Covid.

The hyper-immune response seems to result from insufficient initial response and macrophage trafficking to areas of infection.

Leronlimab/immune modulation allows restoration of appropriate immune functioning and down regulation of hyper/dysregulated immune response.

Auto antibodies / insufficient type 1 interferons are a pathway to the cytokine storm. Leronlimab and more bluntly dexamethasone are the path back.
