The problems are multiple:
There's no evidence that anything "protects 90% of the population"...
~85% of infected already don't need medical intervention.
There's no indication of who has been exposed to the virus and who hasn't.
The reference spike protein that was used is guaranteed to be more than a few months old. Reinfections documented in anywhere from 90-180 days.
Transport, storage, administration of RNA vaccine challenging.
Not enough supply.
Won't become available in any meaningful way to stem infections / mutation opportunities until April, when infectivity will start to ebb anyway. This winter is going to be the first real glimpse of a full on, unabated pandemic, during which a strain will arise that will eventually render these spike based strategies moot.
That potential vaccine is, at best, a much needed fortification for those on the front line. Cause for celebration, as they are long overdue some good news. More likely, it's a band-aid with a limited shelf life... LLMab is the full hazmat suit.
