It's ludicrous that we are 9 months into a pandemic and the only new therapeutic approved is one that doesn't work.
The US govt has made a massive mistake not putting more resources into helping companies with novel therapeutics enroll patients in trials and do whatever else could help hasten results. The FDA and associated entities should have been aggressively seeking out potential new therapies, closely monitoring eIND results for clues to efficacy and doing regular looks at ongoing blinded trials, not relying on independent monitoring committees and companies scared to spend alpha.
I'm all for market capitalism but when so many lives are at stake business as usual is unforgivable.
