IMO it gave the major shorters time to do pre-market setting up of their accounts to prepare for the retail trade.
I am a novice at the ins and outs of trading, so I am most likely way off. But since all players aren't playing by the same rules as to when they can buy/sell I like to see PRs issued when all can play at the same time.
