Bigger question: Why did Gilead sell the EU $1.2B worth of remdesivir a week after they learned from the WHO that it was ineffective?
Taxpayers get screwed twice - first their tax money pays for it, then, if they get treated with this bogus drug and get sicker or die, they lose again.
Gilead deserves an SEC suspension and a trip to the pink sheets. This isn't much different than the tobacco industry hiding damaging studies linking it to cancer in the 50s or big oil hiding the studies showing negative climate effects from fossil fuels usage in the 70s or the Sacklers selling billions worth of oxycontin in the 90s after learning of its harmful effects.
Someone needs to point out to the EU that there is a more effective treatment and the CEO/company pushing it does not engage in dishonesty or peddling dangerous products. I hope the people hired to push LL in the EU will be banging on their door ASAP.
