Increasing mortality to 42 days is a cheap way to increase "N." Information lies in events (deaths), not enrollees.
Can we ask NP the number dead at 28 days vs. at 42 days in the interim analysis? Is it the difference between the 45 number he mentioned once and the 50+ cited later? That's the effective increase in study enrollment.
I obviously assume they will assess 42 day death on all trial participants - not just new ones.
