Basically, you're right, Blafarm. But 293 could be achieved via two avenues: the five UK sites recruit patients fairly heavily (it's bad in the UK now, and I suspect they dont have as many trials available), and patients in the US who can't afford to pay for the drug are offered the trial (and cash?) instead.

The second option seems a shade unethical. But he first seems doable: if each site recruited one a day, then the 63 would be enrolled in 13 days.
