To state that the slowdown is only attributed to management failure (another horse that you have beaten to a pulp) is a bit presumptuous.

I would expect that the trial sites were shifting focus from enrolling to compiling data as well. There are probably many reasons why it slowed.

IMO, If they have the ability to maintain enrollment while doing an interim, then do it. If the cannot, skip it and finish the trial.
