The extension to 42 days should cover any decrease in the mortality rate. They must have seen patients on SOC hanging on past 28 days and then dying. It's possible that if the 42 days were applied to the first 195 patients the p value would have been met. But the FDA frowns on retroactive analysis. They should have been tracking mortality past 28 days so going forward the 42 days should apply to all 293 patients.
