My question - Is the virus still detectable/active in "long haulers", or are they suffering from damage done while they were infected? Anybody know?

Can a long hauler infect others?

Long haulers no longer have live virus in their bodies so there is no possibility of transmitting an infection.

It was initially thought viral shedding of RNA particles may be the cause of long haulers. With the length of time after infection that symptoms still occur I think that's highly unlikely. If viral antibodies didn't fade away so quickly it could simply be attributed to the antibodies.

But to me it looks more like an autoimmunity response. In some people somewhere in the complexity of the immunological response a switch is flipped by COVID-19 that is keeping the body in an inflammatory state. A very good likelihood it is based on the genetics of the person involved. Lyme's disease seems to be a parallel to this and leronlimab should fix that. Dr. Patterson's screening may give a clue to what's going on which is why it's a shame we're no longer associated with him.
