The media is in fact portraying what IS misinformation and WHERE it is coming from. You've confused, unsurprisingly, portraying with conveying.

Are you under the impression that Trump has responded effectively to the pandemic, and that the media is saying otherwise?

Then, misinformation has been conveyed to you

Do you believe that Trump is up by exactly the reverse of what his increasingly bad poll numbers show him to be?

Then, again, misinformation is being conveyed to you.

If I'm wrong about either example; the Covid cases and deaths begin to plummet, the vaccine is here by election day and Trump wins the lection bigly; If one or either of the three happen I'll be here to post 'my bad, I was wrong'.
