What a weekend. Such drama!
Did Trump get oxygen or not? What's he going to take? Did his doctor lie? Were those videos staged and taped before he got sicker? Did they really just parade him around the hospital "Weekend at Bernies" style?
It turns out the answer to that last question is no. He is alive and Sarah Sanders wasn't hiding just out of view shoving his arm back and forth while eating a burrito. Not sure why I think it was a burrito. She just seems like she likes a good burrito. Don't at me.
(Trigger Warning to those who are blindly Pro-Trump. Before getting to the why, this post will postulate some things you won't appreciate. I think these points are arguably true and the point isn't to just drag your guy but to help make a point about what Trump recovering from Covid does for Leronlimab and our country.)
So he didn't get Leronlimab but that was probably never going to happen unless he progressed. It sounds like, regardless of how bad it actually got, he never got dangerously bad. While that doesn't mean he's out of the woods completely, it appears for now that he will recover. That's good for him as I'm sure he wasn't interested in dying. It's actually good for us too.
Why? Well thank you for asking such a timely question. I was just about to answer it.
There were obviously a few ways his condition could go. Get better, get worse, or bounce around with symptoms until it broke one way or the other. If he were to get worse there's a chance that Leronlimab could have eventually found itself in the mix. But that didn't happen and it's still ok.
Why? Yeah, umm...I'm in the middle of answering that. Just hold on a second and I'll get there. Geez.
Trump gets the disease he has (arguably) treated like a hoax, that he has (arguably) failed to truly take seriously, that hasn't gone away despite already killing 200k+ Americans, and he has relatively easily come out on the other side of his personal experience with it saying we shouldn't be scared of it and proudly taking off his mask on camera.
That is very much not the same "no big deal" experience for the hundreds of thousands (perhaps millions) who have either died or spent a long time battling death before barely beating the virus. He's already taken the stance to his base that opening the country is the most important thing, that masks are for lesser folks, and that it's always just about to go away. Those who believe the same are now validated. That's not good for containing the virus.
This means that a not insignificant portion of our society will continue to not take this virus very seriously. For the same reason antivax folks have caused deadly diseases to show back up in our society, the segment of society that fervently follows Trump's lead will continue to do the same for the Coronavirus.
And if it doesn't go away, or doesn't go away as quickly as it could, that means that Leronlimab remains a very valuable drug in the near and long term. And that's just for Covid. I'm not even factoring in the other uses for CCR5 conditions.
To make my point more clear in case it already wasn't:
I think that Trump getting, and "relatively easily beating", Covid is going to lead to a strengthening of an already dangerous segment of today's Covid riddled society. Similar to anti-vax folks causing deadly diseases to come back in large numbers I think we will see large numbers of virus infections continue (leading to even more deaths) because a lot of people just had their dangerous, anti-science and anti-evidence viewpoint validated in their minds.
We (Trump lovers, Trump agnostics, and Trump haters who combine to make up this board of CYDY investors) remain in a very strong position to see our support of Leronlimab save lives in people infected with the Coronavirus as a result. Because it isn't going to go away anytime soon if our leader can't fully get behind doing what we need to do to destroy it.
