SAF,
In addition to Montefiore patients mostly or all being renal transplant patients, it appears that some fraction were denied standard of care / denied dialysis as the Bronx was overwhelmed and there was insufficient capacity for acute renal failure in addition to chronic renal failure patients.
Thankfully standard of care now includes blood thinners which seems to have mitigate coagulopathy and some portion of renal failure and pulmonary embolism patents.
The Otto Yang/UCLA patients are likely a better cohort for comparison .
