After a talk with Akkanti, Hajjar and her family decided it was in her best interest to be put on plasma in conjunction with Leronlimab, a medication that has been proven to treat HIV. The Leronlimab treatment was randomized, meaning neither patient nor doctor know if she received it or a placebo.

Hajjar was released July 7, only a week after being admitted.
