Somebody asked about the comment Tony made about Medicare coverage for Excellagen.
It is nice that Excellagen is covered by Medicare. Unfortunately, the reimbursement isn't as good as what outpatient clinics and civilian hospitals get for suturing procedures. The VA is self insured so they pay differently and are more interested in saving money and using the best product. This is one reason it will be an uphill battle to use Excellagen away from the VA or perhaps the MSO model.
If it really catches on and becomes popular, commercial insurance companies may step in and cover but that would take a while.
