Yes, I think mail sticks to other mail, hence why it gets delivered to the wrong address. With this age of automatic sealing, the glue dries while in contact with another envelope. So most of that is machine error.

And yes, the post office has been losing money for years. The first class mailing has gone way down with the age of email. Also catalogs have gone down with Amazon. So junk mail, at least the junk mail that is actually mailed (not email junk mail), has gone down. They are between a rock and a hard place. If they raise the price of stamps, less mail will go out and they will still lose money. If they raise the delivery charge to Amazon, Amazon is already delivering their own packages, so they will just increase that and the post office will lose more.

I think the post office will always need to be supplemented by the government. Too many seniors don't know computers and rely on the post office for mail order prescriptions, etc.
