Already done. No smoke/fires where we are on the coast of northern CA. Went thru areas of smoke during our escape. At our home, total smoke all the up to the purple stage which can destroy one's lungs. SF is total smoke.
Avoided much of the smoke in many places we had to drive thru. Couldn't do that now. Had to find the places before we left and spend time moving around as most refugees in northern CA are doing. Will be at this place for three more days then move to other spots where we already have a reservations. Fires, smoke and COVID, what a combo.
The extreme dry lightning storm and fires were not anticipated by any weather source. Nice thing is, we're in clean air. My relatives and friends at home and in the middle of the state are covered with toxic smoke and ashes. Our neighbors thought they wouldn't be very effected or couldn't leave but are. As we were leaving, ash was falling on our car and the smoke was very thick. Saw it coming and bailed.
