If this mattered to the people that matter it wouldn’t be a thing. What matters to the people that run government entities is CYA and who is going to pay me big bucks after I leave this gig.
This applies more so under the current administration with its “revolving door” policy on staffing key positions. Plus we’ve got an upcoming election that might result in “regime change”.
If you’re high in the food chain at the FDA, NIH you aren’t about to piss off the board at BP when you very well might be sending them a resume soon.
My $$ is on other nations being our customers, at least initially.
