Biggest gaffe I made re: schools was one time I was in Columbia SC and saw all this cardinal and gold with USC banners, etc. and I remarked that I was quite surprised there was such a following for Southern Cal (I grew up in San Diego) as it was so far from the East Coast.  I got schooled real quick what a complete idiot I was as the following was for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.  Live and learn.
