I hope the motivation is less emotional/vindictive and more pure buisness driven. The fact is they have product in the warehouse, significantly more product is on its way - and any good CEO would be driving the company hard to sell that product to a customer that wants it. The last thing a salesperson wants to do is alienate your largest potential “customer”. It is important to continue to cultivate that relationship for future sales. Let strategy drive rather than emotion.
