Is it possible that the market makers have decided to build up an inventory of shares? not sure exactly how it works but i remember reading somewhere that they do that with certain stocks to create volume and have a bank of shares they can short against to fill orders without getting over exposed. not saying that's whats happening here but there have been a lot of transactions happening in between the spread
