Blood test for tau protein developed, is almost as accurate as autopsy to detect Alzheimer's and has the advantage of the patient not having to be dead for a diagnosis.
This could change things a LOT for drug research because they'll know for sure whether someone has what we're calling "Alzheimer's" or if it's some other syndrome that mimics the symptoms.
Test won't be available for several years. Funded by Eli Lilly company so presumably they'll be the ones to commercialize it.
