Re: expharmer #43308
My wife had a slew of negative sequelae from Lyme and finally has come to terms with the fact that she needs to manage autoimmune issues, not fight a pathogen that has moved on.

A path to future treatments was discovered last year by Brandon Jutras, a biochemist at Virginia Tech, implicating peptidoglycan in Lyme Arthritis (and I assumed other autoimmune manifestations).

It appears that not only is Borrelia a crappy pathogen, but a messy one as well, leaving a trail of immune-stimulating waste products in its wake (as best I understand it).

I have difficulty imagining a mechanism to clean up the detritus from our joints, but I imagine someone will find a way to mitigate the immune response.
