CSFs help your body make more white blood cells. This lowers your risk for febrile neutropenia. CSFs include Neupogen (filgrastim), Neulasta (pegfilgrastim), and Leukine and Prokine (sargramostim). They are usually given as shots 24 hours after a chemotherapy treatment.
This is an example of how a drug helps the body together with, and not instead, of a continuing treatment.
So.... the point is, until they get sales and money,
Why isn't this used akin to a CSF - no contraindications
I just don't get it -
In the HIV population, who would not insist on taking this with, not instead, of current treatment ?
In the cancer population - I would add it to, not in place of appropriate chemo.
