A big problem in cancer metastasis is the detrimental over expression or up regulation of CCR5 receptors on cell surfaces during cancers malignant transformation. This CCR5 increase is a response to the malignant tumor's secretion of above normal levels of the cytokine CCL5 (RANTES). To paraphrase; 10,000 storm troopers have been called into the pub and all hell breaks loose over a spilled beer. Stop the radio signal and the troops never arrive.
The fairly new graphic animation video on the entirety of CCL5/CCR5 in cancer metastisis, and the MOA of leronlimab, is fascinating even if one cares little about the drug. One needs only replace the cancer cells with virus infected cells in the lungs for a similar scenario.
