He's definitely not cookie-cutter, and came to this company in an unorthodox way. But he knew to hire great people with impeccable credentials and they can cover the science details in depth if need be. And he knows it: he began and ended in humility, giving full credit for the invention and trialing to those teammates, who deserve it.

To me it's *refreshing* that he's not a standard stuffed shirt. I trust him infinitely more than, say, his counterparts at Gilead et al. He's real, has skin in the game, isn't part of the illness exploitation industry looking to move to a bigger c suite somewhere.
