Stop losses on stocks that trade quickly don't work. My point was that if you rec'd an alert, you would go and see what was happening, and NOT sell knowing it was abnormal movement, which usually does not last more than a few hours to few days. However a stop loss sells you at Market when the loss is triggered and you could drop another dollar or more in that time. Meanwhile right after that happens the stock bounces back up.

The only way I use stops is if I use a trailing stop loss. This want it keeps going up with the stock and if it gets triggered, it is probably in the beginning of a move down so you don't get steamrolled lower on the stampede.
