As much as I like to read Thoughtful Investing's posts on the Yahoo board, I have yet to see validation of his source.
I understand he uses Fidelity, but other than tracking trades from Prime Brokerage accounts like Jeffries, or quarterly 13D filings, I don't know how these so called institutional trades are being distinguished from retails trades.
I am not sure, but I may have read that he (or Fidelity) uses block sizes to "guess" between the two, and I may have read that the threshold being used was 10k block sizes. If that's the case, then I would consider the information to be worthless. But again, I could be wrong.
I'm sure someone on this board has a Fidelity account. Maybe that person could tell us if you can put any stock (pun intended) in the accuracy of these institutional numbers.
