That sounds like the conditions I saw families living in when I visited a coconut plantation in Fiji. I stayed with one of the working families.

Lots of first world residents don't realize the conditions people deal with in lesser developed countries, or even in some inner cities in the US.

From my experience, the people who have lived their whole lives with next to nothing, are some of the most generous and caring people I've ever met, regardless of where they are geographically.
