To me the short-term trader dynamic is counter intuitive. A strategy of driving the price down only works if there is a market to buy them, which means there is inherent underlying value. If the company is a loser this strategy won't work, all they would be doing is throwing away their money. The closer we get to a break-out the more frenetic short-term traders become because the possibility of short term gain increases. It is a limited time horizon before the opportunity disappears.
