Yes, the IRB or the safety board committee could indeed stop the trial but I hope the FDA, (backed by many big pharma's), don't hold us up any longer. Can you imagine what would happen to the entire US government if they didn't allow Leronlimab to make it to market as being the best to stop this Rantees disease and in the end after all our CV trials it proves that it could have at the very beginning? I personally would stand in line to protest the FDA and the NIAD/CDC. That would be out landish to stop a well, I digress!
