I do not suppose to know the efficacy of Remdesivir, but it was chosen year ago specifically for corona virus (obviously not this novel new version). It will be interesting to learn if earlier intervention with Remdesivir will be more effective than the severe trial. The infectious disease experts giving it a good first shot seems perfectly logical to me. Listen to this pod cast to learn the history:
Show 1211: A Conversation With the Coronavirus Hunter
Dr. Ralph Baric has been studying coronaviruses for 35 years and is one of the world's leading experts on these pathogens. In this interview, you will learn how the virus jumped from bats to people and how it replicates. Moreover, Dr. Baric was already studying remdesivir, a medication being utilized against this infection.

Obviously, the hope is that Leronlimab is an even better drug.
